Manchester City’s under-18 side is full of promising young players who do appear destined for big things in football whether that is at Manchester City or elsewhere. One player who appears destined for the top is Finlay Gorman. But he isn’t the only player who has caught the eye this season. Young attacking midfielder Divine Mukasa is another whose performances have received rave reviews this season. Based on his form this season you do feel that he could potentially one day become a key player for Manchester City.
Divine Mukasa has starred for Manchester City’s under-18 side this season. In statistics sourced from transfermarkt.com Mukasa has scored 14 goals and added 24 assists in 31 appearances in all competitions. Those numbers are absurd for an attacking midfielder. But take the numbers out of the equation and it’s the talent at the disposal of Mukasa that makes him a tantalising prospect for Manchester City.
Divine Mukasa is blessed with tremendous passing ability and vision. These attributes have seen him register 24 assists this season. At times he appears to see the game differently to any other player on the pitch. There is a Kevin De Bruyne-like quality to his passing ability. That’s a big call to make but Mukasa’s passing ability does stand out. His delivery from set pieces is also of the highest quality. That skill set will no doubt translate well at the highest level. The clip below gives you a glimpse of the passing ability in Divine Mukasa’s game.
The passing ability and vision of Divine Mukasa are just one element of his game. He has many more attributes that make him a player to watch for in the future at Manchester City. His dribbling ability is a standout feature of his play. Mukasa ghosts past opponents in a manner similar to that of Oscar Bobb. The close control Mukasa displays is also a key attribute of his play. Combine that with his elite dribbling ability and you can see why he is so highly regarded as a player. Mukasa also has an eye for goal and his ability to score goals and drift into dangerous positions from midfield does appear suited to playing for Manchester City’s first team one day.
At 17 years of age, Divine Mukasa does appear to have a bright future ahead of him. He has starred for Manchester City’s under-18 side this season, and you do feel that he is capable of making a step up in the near future. Worryingly, for Manchester City, clubs across Europe have noticed the talent of Divine Mukasa. Fabrizio Romano has previously reported via X that Bayer Leverkusen and Ajax are monitoring Mukasa’s progress. The hope is we see the best of Mukasa at Manchester City and not elsewhere.
Divine Mukasa looks to be a player who could one day play in the Manchester City first team. He isn’t yet the finished product but everything about him screams Manchester City player. How he progresses is something to watch for and based on his displays this season we may see him in City’s first team set up sooner rather than later.
