Another solution to Rangers’ postponement fiasco

As the “postpone the Hibs game” debate rumbles on, there is a solution that might just be acceptable to all.

Thinking back to mid-February, we played Annan Athletic on Saturday 12th Feb, before making the trip to Germany for the Europa League on Thursday 17th February. Of course, the 3-0 drubbing of Annan with what was essentially our reserve team will live long in the memory, whilst few will also recall a decent (4-2) European away win away to minnows Borussia Dortmund.

Facetiousness aside, there’s another very viable option that the SFA should consider. They could move our tie with Queen of the South forward to this Saturday (allowing us to rest most of our big hitters) and reschedule the league match with Hibs for Tuesday 30th August. QOTS are due to play Peterhead on Saturday, who themselves are not in the League Cup, likewise Hibs made an early exit in the competition, therefore disruption would be minimal.

Of course, our match on 30th August comes just 4 days before that crucial first Old Firm clash of the season, however that one (important as it is) doesn’t have £60m on the line.

We know that this won’t happen and as usual, Rangers get given the…muddy end of the stick. We just need to hope that we negotiate Saturday without any issues and move on to Wednesday with no injuries and 3 more points in the bag. Would have been nice to have been given the option though.
