Inter Milan have confirmed that midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu has suffered a new injury.

The 30-year-old underwent tests with the Nerazzurri medical staff today, the club confirm. Therefore, he will miss Wednesday’s Serie A clash with Bologna this week.

Inter midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu has been on the sidelines for a week with a thigh problem.

The former AC Milan midfielder suffered a slight elongation in his right adductor muscle during the Supercoppa Italiana.

That forced Calhanoglu off in the first half of the final against his old side the Rossoneri. And he also missed yesterday’s Serie A match against Venezia.

Over the past week, Calhanoglu has been working on his recovery.

The Turkish international has been aiming to recover in time for Wednesday’s Serie A match against Bologna.

Inter Milan Confirm New Injury For Hakan Calhanoglu

However, in the meantime, Calhanoglu has suffered a new injury.

Today, the Turk underwent tests with the Inter medical staff.

These tests revealed that Calhanoglu has suffered from a separate injury from the one that forced him off in the Supercoppa final.

The issue for the 30-year-old is a slight strain to the soleus muscle in his right calf.

Therefore, Calhanoglu will certainly miss this week’s Serie A match against Bologna.

Inter state that Calhanoglu will undergo further tests in the next few days. Therefore, it is uncertain exactly when he will be able to return.

The Nerazzurri have a number of matches on the way over the next couple weeks, between Serie A and the Champions League.
