Another Brazilian football giant saw its under-20 team relegated in the Under-20 Brazilian Championship.

The last round of the qualifying phase of the 2025 edition of the tournament - the first with relegation - was played on Wednesday afternoon (23).

Internacional, Grêmio, and Cuiabá were trying not to join the already relegated Atlético Mineiro and Atlético Goianiense.

Colorado had to take the last of the three spots.

Vasco and Juventude were the last two teams to qualify for the quarterfinals.

Fluminense tried to enter the G-8 in the final round, but stayed behind.

Only Palmeiras and Red Bull Bragantino had their positions already guaranteed before this decisive Wednesday.

Avaí (BR Sub-20 B champion), Vitória (runner-up), and Criciúma (third in the overall standings) will be the newcomers in the elite in 2026.

Inter gets complicated in the 1st half

Colorado needed to defeat Santos - who was not fighting for anything - at Passo D'Areia and also dry Grêmio or Cuiabá.

But their situation became even more delicate before halftime, after conceding two goals.

The final stage was four goals on the net - two from each side. And Inter was relegated after losing 4-2 as the home team.

They only won four of the 19 games. Galo and Dragão won only twice.

Tricolor does not succeed

Champion of the first edition organized by the CBF, in 2015, Fluminense only reached the final round with a chance after thrashing Corinthians in the previous one.

They needed to defeat leader Palmeiras - and the biggest winner - and also dry Juventude or Vasco.

But they didn't even do their part. Playing at Arena Barueri, Tricolor saw Fábio (27'), Erick Belé (44'), and Rodrigo Haruki (47') score before Riquelme (50') discounted.

Alviverde was already playing with one less (André Lucas was expelled at 49').

And they were left with nine players on the field at 71' after another red card in Verdão.

Fluminense believed. But they only scored one more goal, with Isaque, were defeated 3-2, and were eliminated.
