Anna Csiki described the opportunity of playing in England as a ‘dream come true’ after joining us from BK Hacken on Friday.

The midfielder, who has 40 caps to her name for the Hungary national team, became our fifth signing of the summer and penned a deal until 2028 after four years in the Swedish top flight, where she also featured regularly in their UEFA Women’s Champions League campaigns.

Anna, 24, also reunites with Head Coach Robert Vilahamn as they both crossed paths in 2022 at BK Hacken and once she heard of the interest from her former coach and Spurs, she revealed her decision was a ‘no brainer’.

“It’s amazing to be here, it has always been my dream to come and play in England,” Anna told SPURSPLAY after completing her move. “This is one of the biggest clubs in England, so I’m really excited to have joined the team and can’t wait to play my first game.

“It obviously made the decision easier as I have known Robert for many years now, but as soon as I heard about Spurs’ interest, it was a no brainer. I’m really excited to play in the WSL… I can’t find the words to describe it.”

Having spent eight years in Budapest with Ferencvárosi, where she won the Hungarian top flight and Hungarian Women’s Cup numerous times, Anna joined BK Hacken in 2020 and went on to make 89 appearances for them, scoring nine goals.

When reflecting on her career so far, especially overcoming barriers in her youth playing days, Anna believes it was time for a new adventure with her next destination at Hotspur Way.

“I started playing football at the age of five and played with them for about seven years. I loved every single minute of that because every time we had a game, the opponent thought they would win as we had a girl playing but I found that really motivating and I wanted to prove them wrong.

“I then played for the biggest club in Hungary for Ferencvárosi and spent eight years there, won the league, the cup and basically everything there, then I wanted some new challenges. I moved to Sweden, competed in the Champions League, won the league and cups there as well. I feel I have achieved everything I could in Sweden and now I felt ready for a new experience.”

So, what can we expect from our new number 14?

She explains: “I really like to have the ball at my feet, I would say I’m quite a technical player and I like to use my left foot a lot. I feel I can adapt to any type of football and, as soon as I’m on the ball, I want to score goals and get assists. I loved watching Kaka, looking at videos of him on YouTube when I was younger. I would say he is kind of that player I want to be, or I feel like I am a little bit.”
