Zamalek secured narrow 1 - 0 win over Pharco on Tuesday at Al Salam Stadium climbing to the top of the Egyptian Premier League table after four rounds.

How Zamalek struck the decisive blow

The match was locked until the 48 minute when Angolan Chico Banza punished defensive mistake. A poor clearance from Pharco defender Mohamed Hussein allowed Oday Dabbagh to intercept and deliver cross which Banza converted calmly to hand Zamalek the lead.

Turning point: Pharco reduced to 10 men

Pharco’s hopes faded further in the 62 minute. Senegalese defender Babacar N’Diaye received 2nd yellow card for reckless challenge on Mahmoud El Wensh leaving the visitors with 10 player.

Under Belgian coach Yannick Ferrera, Zamalek pressed relentlessly. Nasser Mansi went close with header while El Dabbagh & Adam Kaid also forced saves from Pharco keeper Shika.

The woodwork denied Mansi late on keeping the scoreline tight.

The victory lifted Zamalek to 10 point taking 1st place ahead of Al Masry who drew 1 - 1 with Haras El Hodood earlier in the day.
