Tottenham Hotspur have announced that Angela Addison has signed a new contract at the club. The contract runs until June 2022 with an option to extend for a further year.

Addison has scored 11 goals in 41 appearances for Spurs since she joined the club in 2018.

Her contract extension follows the news that Jessica Naz has also extended her contract at the club until 2022. She too has an option for a further year.

In the Women’s Super League this season, Addison has played 12 matches and has scored one goal. That came against Brighton & Hove Albion in December.

The tricky winger started last time out against Aston Villa as Spurs lost 1-0 thanks to a stunning effort from Mana Iwabuchi. Addison will hope to retain her place on Sunday against Everton.

During her time in the Championship with Spurs before the club’s promotion from the FA Women’s Championship, Addison was nominated for the Player of the Month award. That came in February 2019 after she scored a last minute winner against Leicester City.

Addison scored her first professional hat-trick against Lewes in the Continental Cup as Spurs went on to win that game 6-0.

A new chapter at Tottenham

On penning her new deal, Addison said, “I’m so happy to have signed a new deal. I love being a Spurs player and I am grateful for the trust and belief Rehanne Skinner has placed in me.

“When Rehanne arrived, she made some adjustments which have really helped me, especially as an attacking player – she encourages us to go forward and express ourselves. She is a great coach, her sessions are amazing and I feel like I am becoming a better version of myself.

“Since I joined in 2018, we have come so far as a club. Our journey from the Championship to the WSL happened so quickly and I am proud of how much we have grown and improved.

“At the same time, I feel like we are entering a new chapter. Making the move to Hotspur Way full-time and training at the world-class facilities has been a fantastic step for us and means we can compete with the best teams in the league.

“I think as a team we are building in the right direction. Every training session, every game, we are getting better and that is what I want to be part of. I know we have so much more to give.”
