Angel Gomes set to join Marseille

Angel Gomes is set to stay in France and swap Lille for Marseille according to reports.

Journalist Fabrice Hawkins on French outlet RMC Sport is reporting that the England international is set to sign a three-year deal with Marseille with the player out of contract at the end of the month.

There had previously been reports of interest in Gomes from various Premier League clubs but the player has instead opted to stay in Ligue 1.

Roberto De Zerbi's Marseille finished second last season, albeit some 19 points behind runaway winners Paris Saint-Germain. A move to Les Phocéens would also see Gomes reunite with former Manchester United teammate Mason Greenwood.

Since joining Lille from United, Gomes played 134 times for the club scoring 10 goals and assisting 19.
