Via official social media channels, England have confirmed that Angel Gomes (24) has once again been called up for international duties by Lee Carsley. The Lille midfielder was a shock inclusion in the first squad named by the interim boss of the Three Lions in September.
After being called up to represent his country, Gomes was also handed his England debut by Carsley. The 24-year-old made his debut as a 77th minute substitute against Ireland. England reigned victorious on his debut with a 2-0 victory. Following an impressive cameo from the bench, the former Manchester United midfielder was named as a starter in Carsley’s team that comprehensively defeated Finland 2-0.
Gomes impressed on debut for his country, and a month on from his first appearances, the London-born midfielder has been given a further nod of confidence by the England boss. The former England U21 boss worked with the midfielder during his time in charge of the youth team and has made it known how highly he rates the Les Dogues player since he made his debut for his country.
