At the gates of Paris, on the banks of the Canal Saint-Denis, there lies a commune that has forged its history through the determination and spirit of its inhabitants. 13 kilometres away from the dazzling lights of the Eiffel Tower and the Champs-Elysées, Aubervilliers is not accustomed to the glamour of the French capital. So close, yet so far: here the landscape is marked by large apartment buildings and factories that dot the horizon in every direction. Yet from these streets, one’s gaze might fall upon a very recognisable landmark: the Stade de France, the home of the French national football team, located in nearby Saint-Denis. A legendary venue for French football and a stadium that Ange-Yoan Bonny has no doubt looked at from afar countless times, letting his imagination and dreams take flight.
Of Ivorian descent, Bonny was born in Aubervilliers on 25 October 2003, but he spent his early years living in different parts of France. His football adventure began very early, in Nouvelle-Aquitaine. At the age of seven, he started playing for La Rochelle Villeneuve before moving on to Périgny, where he stayed until 2013. Those years on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean were just the first stage of his journey. Ange-Yoan then moved to the banks of the Loire and played for Chambray, after which he became part of the Tours FC youth sector. Just a year later, he made his next move, this time heading to Châteauroux.
Everyone at La Berri quickly recognised Bonny’s enormous potential: after just one year in the club’s youth ranks, Ange-Yoan made his Ligue 2 debut with the first team during the 2020/21 season. The date was 31 October 2020, and Châteauroux’s opponents that day were Nancy. Those were 17 important minutes for the young striker, who was only 17 at the time. In total, Bonny played five matches in France’s second tier, scoring his first professional goal in a game against Rodez.
Through his flashes of brilliance, Ange-Yoan was starting to make a name for himself, so much so that he began to be selected for youth international training camps at Clairefontaine. Everything changed in the summer of 2021: Bonny was signed by Parma, who had just been relegated to Serie B, and his career took a decisive turn before he had even turned 18.
For the first time, Ange-Yoan left France and found himself in a completely different environment. During his debut season, Bonny split his time between the Primavera, for whom he made four appearances, and the first team, featuring 13 times in Serie B. The following campaign saw him score his first goal away at Brescia – a strike that came after some fantastic footwork where he showed all his technical quality.
The 2023/24 season truly was Bonny’s breakthrough year: he became a key figure for the Ducali, who dominated Serie B. Ange-Yoan is a modern centre-forward, working across all attacking areas, and creating space and opportunities for his teammates with his unpredictable movement. Come the end of the season, he had racked up five goals and six assists – numbers that only partially reflect his importance to Fabio Pecchia’s Parma.
In 2024/25, Ange-Yoan played in Serie A for the first time, and he made a big impact with consistently positive performances. On his top-flight debut against Fiorentina on matchday 1, he was named Man of the Match. Then, at the end of August, he scored his first goal against Napoli. In total, he has made 37 appearances and scored six goals in Serie A.
A lightning-fast and powerful striker who is blessed with great physique and mobility, Bonny is a centre-forward who plays for the team. Thanks to his excellent technique, he is capable of causing problems for all his opponents. The 26th French player in Inter’s history, Ange-Yoan has reunited with Cristian Chivu, who was his coach at Parma last season.
A new chapter in Ange-Yoan Bonny’s dream is now beginning, and it is steeped in the colours of the Nerazzurri.
