New Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou felt his side were hard done by in the first leg of their Champions League second round qualifier against FC Midtjylland on Tuesday.

Liel Abada, who was making his competitive debut the Bhoys, opened the scoring in the 38th minute at Parkhead.

But the sending off of Nir Bitton soon after that swung the game back in the visitors’ favour.

The dismissal of former St Mirren man Anders Dreyer evened up the numbers, but the Danes also managed to level matters on the scoreboard through Brazilian attacker Evander.

“We deserved the three points,” Postecoglou said, per the official Celtic website.

“We played really well, especially in the first half. We controlled the game, scored a good goal and hit the post.

“We went down to 10 men for a significant amount of time and had to work hard.

“We created some good chances again and limited them to two strikes on goal throughout the whole game so it’s a wee bit of a missed opportunity. At the same time, it was a fantastic effort from the players.”

The Scottish side will have it all to do when they travel to the MCH Arena next Wednesday for the second leg.
