Former Barcelona and current Vissel Kobe midfielder Andrés Iniesta opened up on his future as Barcelona’s U-14s played a youth tournament in Japan.

In an interview with Barcelona’s Youtube channel, the J-League’s newest star professed his desire to return to Barça and improve their world-famous youth academy.

Iniesta said, “I hope I can be back there in the future, because I view it (Barcelona) as my home. I hope one day to be able to transmit everything that I have learned and been taught, and what I’ve done for a long time.”

Iniesta also said that Lionel Messi doesn’t need much advice to do a fantastic job of replacing him as captain.

“I have little advice for Messi,” Iniesta said, “Although he did not wear the armband before, Leo always acted as captain.

“The captains have a very strong potential to manage a team, Messi is the captain of the Argentine team. The only thing I did was to appreciate him and for me he was the captain of FC Barcelona.

“For him, after so many years spent at the club, I guess it’s a new experience.”

He also told Barça’s new midfielder, Arthur, that he should be “confident in his game” because “he’s got some very strong attributes.”
