In April, the 33-year-old announced he would be leaving his boyhood club this summer in pursuit of a new challenge.

Japan’s national broadcaster NHK, first reported the two sides had come to an agreement last week and have again confirmed their claims.

The J-League side are owned by Japanese internet powerhouse Rakuten, who currently sponsor the shirts of the Catalan club.

Last year, Vissel acquired Lukas Podolski, although the former Germany international is currently sidelined due to a calf injury. The club is currently sixth in the J. League.
