Inter striker Andrea Pinamonti was delighted to register his first goal for the club in the same season that they ended their lengthy Scudetto drought.

The Nerazzurri thrashed Sampdoria 5-1 at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in Serie A this afternoon in their first match since being crowned champions last weekend, with Pinamonti coming off the bench to score the fourth.

In an interview with InterTV after the match, the 21-year-old revealed his joy at finding the net for the first time for his boyhood club, less than a week after they had secured a first Serie A title since 2010.

“I’ve been waiting for a long time, scoring my first goal with this shirt has always been one of my dreams. It also arrived in the year of the Scudetto, there are so many emotions together that make everything fantastic,” Pinamonti revealed.

The former Frosinone loanee claimed that the strength of the group at Inter had been a decisive factor in their success this season and felt that his teammates had gone out of their way to welcome him, after Milan Skriniar embraced him following his goal.

“As we have always said, this Scudetto came from the unity of this group and the results can be seen on the pitch. Now we also add the mental freedom that we have won the Scudetto. We are all united to do well these last matches and enjoy the break.

“I told him (Skriniar), before I came on that I felt that I could score a goal if I was used. He told me to go and hug him if it happened.”

Pinamonti has seen little first team action since returning from a season on loan at Genoa but insisted he had developed by training with the squad at Inter and working with coach Antonio Conte.

“I have grown a lot, despite not having played much. It was a very important year from many points of view, in which I improved in my areas of weakness. This year, as I said, I really needed a lot,” the striker added.

Pinamonti came through Inter’s youth academy and has made seven senior appearances for the club.
