Andre Onana was mobbed by hundreds of fans in Uganda after Cameroon’s goalless draw with Zimbabwe in an AFCON qualifier on Tuesday.
The Manchester United goalkeeper, who is immensely popular in Uganda, had to be escorted separately from the team to avoid the excited crowd.
The Namboole Stadium in Kampala, serving as the venue for Zimbabwe’s home qualifiers, was packed with United supporters eager to see Onana in action.
Uganda had been buzzing since the Cameroonian international arrived days earlier.
His presence created a spectacle both on and off the pitch.
Onana, one of United’s recent signings, became an instant focus.
From his arrival at Entebbe International Airport, where even staff members jostled for photos, to his standout performance in goal, the excitement surrounding him grew steadily.
After the match, the crowd’s anticipation reached a peak.
Hundreds of fans waited outside the stadium, hoping to get close to their Premier League idol.
Security teams acted quickly as Onana left the stadium, ushering him into a waiting car while army personnel cleared the path.
In the chaos, the Cameroon team bus was left behind.
Onana made his way swiftly to the airport, leaving fans in awe of the brief but thrilling encounter.
