Goalkeeper Andre Onana added a jolt of energy and positivity into Inter’s defense in yesterday evening’s Champions League win over Barcelona.

This is the view in today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, who praise the Cameroonian for how he communicated with his defenders and made everyone look sharp as they kept out the Blaugranas’ formidable attack.

Onana made a couple of saves against Barcelona, but in truth the real heart of his performance came in how he claimed crosses, imposed himself in his penalty area, and delegated tasks throughout the defensive structure.

Rather than feeling insecure and uncertain in defensive situations, all of the outfield players and particularly the central defenders had a clear idea of their duties.

As a result, the team as a whole operated very well to keep the Blaugranas from breaking down the door and finding a goal.

Given some of Inter’s recent defensive struggles, the sense was that this performance by Onana was a big factor in altering an uncertain mood at the back for the Nerazzurri.
