Het Niuewsblad are reporting that Anderlecht are interested in signing Rodrigo Zalazar from Schalke 04. The 23-year-old Uruguayan joined Schalke from Eintracht Frankfurt permanently in the summer of 2022 after a successful loan spell from during the 2021/2022 season. During his first spell he scored seven goals in 32 games, while during the 2022/2023 season he scored twice in 23 games. Zalazar also provided six assists in the league, one more than he managed in the previous year.
Zalazar currently has a contract with Schalke until 2026 but is reportedly open to a new challenge. Anderlecht will be without Yari Verschaeren until 2024, while Francis Amuzu is wanting to leave the club. Therefore, the club is looking to add players like Zalazar to fill the gap and keep them competitive. Anderlecht had a disappointing season last year and missed out on European football for the 2023/2024 campaign.
The club is hoping to announce the signing of Kasper Dolberg in the coming days.
