Florian Plettenberg is reporting that Anderlecht are interested in signing former Armenia Bielefeld goalkeeper Stefan Ortega. The 31-year-old German has only made seven appearances for the Premier League side this season and is out of contract in 2025. According to Plettenberg, the goalkeeper is looking to become a number one again, although Pep Guardiola would like to keep him.

Ortega was a key member of the Armenia Bielefeld squad that made it to the Bundesliga a few seasons ago. During his time with Bielefeld he made 220 appearances in all competitions. Since joining Manchester City in 2022 he has made 23 appearances.

Anderlecht are in need of a new goalkeeper this summer, with Kasper Schmeichel set to be out of contract. The 37-year-old former Leicester City man does have an option for a further year, but clearly the Brussels club will need a longer term option.
