HLN are reporting that Anderlecht are looking into the possibility of signing 25-year-old central defender Liam Scales. The Irish international currently plays for Scottish giants Celtic and has and has made 12 Scottish Premiership appearances so far this season, providing one assist.
Scales began his career in his native Ireland with University College Dublin, where he made over 100 appearances and scored seven goals. He then moved on to play for Shamrock Rovers from 2020 to August of 2021 when he moved to Scotland to sign for Celtic. After 13 appearances during the 2021/2022 season, he joined Aberdeen on loan, making 39 appearances and scoring once. Since returning to Glasgow he has played 16 times. He has also been capped three times by the Irish senior men’s side.
Anderlecht are keen to add more central defensive cover, with Jan Vertonghen and Zeno Debast their only experienced and recognised players in that position. After their 2-1 Brussels derby win over RWDM, Anderlecht are second behind another Brussels side in Union St Gilloise.
