Het Nieuwsblad is reporting that Anderlecht is eyeing a move for 30-year-old central midfielder Dennis Praet. The Belgian is set to leave English side Leicester City when his contract expires at the end of June. Reports suggest that if they can sign Praet they may well decide not to pursue a deal to bring back Danish international Thomas Delaney after his loan spell last season.
Praet came through the Anderlecht youth system before moving to Sampdoria in the summer of 2016 for around €8.00m. Praet impressed in Serie A and earned a move to Leicester in 2019, with the English club spending around €19m to bring him to the Premier League. During his time with Leicester he helped them win the FA Cup, but was also part of the squad that was relegated to the Championship. During the 2021/2022 season Praet spent a year with Torino in Serie A. This past year he made only 20 appearances for the Foxes as they won the Championship and won promotion.
The one time Belgian international, if he returns to Anderlecht, will add to the 182 appearances he made before leaving. Praet scored 27 goals and grabbed 39 assists during his time with the Mauves. In 2014 he won the footballer of the year in Belgium.
