Carlo Ancelotti spoke to the media in the press room at Montilivi and analysed Real Madrid's LaLiga matchday eight win over Girona: "It was a very complete night. Winning here means that we did well and I'd like to highlight our defensive work, which was very good. We had the chance to create problems with the ball and defending well was decisive because Girona play good football."

"We put Bellingham on the outside to avoid Vini Jr. having too many defensive duties, bearing in mind that Tchouameni was in the centre to provide cover. The team's defensive work was good."

Vini Jr.’s substitution "He wanted to play more but I decided to avoid any problems. He hasn't played for a month, so he's lacking a bit of his spark, but the 70 minutes he played will be good for him."

Nacho's sending off "He is a very disciplined player and that tackle could have been avoided. We're sorry and he has apologised. Hopefully it's nothing serious for the Girona player. He lacked lucidity in the final moment of the game because we were winning 3-0. The player understands this very well and is very hurt and sad."

Camavinga at left-back "It wasn't a case of urgency. Mendy hadn't played for a month. I thought about putting Fran in, but when I put Vini Jr. on the outside I needed a full-back with Camavinga's characteristics to press more after losing the ball. I think he did well.”

Solidity Speaking to Realmadrid TV, Ancelotti said: "The team looked sharp. They played a solid and convincing game. Girona play good football. We did the damage when we could and also controlled the defensive aspects well. Solidity is the most important thing in these games."
