Carlo Ancelotti spoke in the press room at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium about the game against Osasuna: "It wasn't a good game. We lacked intensity in the first half with and without the ball. The defensive line didn't press enough. It was better in the second half, after the equaliser, in terms of intensity. I made the changes to freshen things up".

"The goal we conceded came from a pass from the centre of the pitch and they had a few counter-attacks but they weren't very dangerous. We didn't play at a very intense pace, but the game was under control and we deserved to win. We put in crosses when we had the extra man, but they were comfortable with that. There wasn't any room for anything else. The game could have been won with the penalty. A very positive run comes to an end and hopefully we can start another positive run now".

The dressing room "This team is upset when it doesn't win. We're not happy and that's the reason why this side won a lot last year. We're not happy with the draw and we will react soon".

International break "We shouldn't be making excuses about the break. We need to manage the break. We've got a very good squad and I made changes to give priority to the players who were training here. The game didn't go how we wanted it to. We took the lead, but we weren't lucky enough to convert the penalty. We've done really well so far and we'll carry on doing very well". Conceding in every LaLiga game  “This is an area we can improve on. The team was well-positioned for today’s goal, we were unfortunate. We have to get better in this regard, but we’ve done well there in the Champions League”.

Benzema’s return “It wasn’t his best game but that’s to be expected after he’s missed the last few. He’s been training very hard and most likely he wasn’t quite sharp enough. He has to work for the upcoming games. Karim took the two most important penalties last season and scored. He’s the best penalty-taker in the team and he’ll keep taking them”.

Courtois injury “He’s got some tests on Monday and we’ll see if he can get back. It’s a muscular issue, I think it’s with the sciatic nerve. We’ll find out if he can play on Wednesday tomorrow”.

Hazard “It was a game that needed a strong centre forward who was good in the air like Mariano, who had chances to score with his head. It wasn’t the right match for Hazard’s qualities”.
