Real Madrid were the best team in the world by far last season, winning both the UEFA Champions League and La Liga in grandstand fashion.
Under Carlo Ancelotti’s tutelage, the Merengues were seemingly unstoppable and played high-impact football without necessarily dominating games.
This term, they have relatively struggled and the manager has come under pressure to alter his dynamics with the team underperforming. Yet, there is no doubt that the team will come good when the pressure situations eventually arrive.
Speaking to the media at the opening of Real Madrid University school, Ancelotti spoke on a plethora of topics primarily around his time at the club so far.
He began by wishing all the students of the newly opened institute good luck and motivating them to aim for the stars. He also spoke on what made Real Madrid such a great footballing institution.
“Real Madrid has won and continues to win a lot in its history because it does not like to lose or draw.”
“There are clubs that accept defeat in a different way than Real Madrid. This increases the demands and responsibility of the people who work in this club,” he added.

Ancelotti then spoke about the various clubs he has worked at in the past and what set the Merengues class apart from the others.
“I have worked in many top-level clubs and Real Madrid is the biggest in the world in terms of history, organisation and demands. You realise that the most important thing here is to be successful on a sporting level.”
“The president’s work is incredible, and the club wins with the work he has been able to do,” he added on Florentino Perez.

Speaking on the values in the dressing room and the camaraderie behind the scenes, Ancelotti said,
“Real Madrid is a family, we spend a lot of time here and the atmosphere helps you bring out the best in yourself. On a personal level, I prefer to work within a family. Every day you come here you notice that.”
Finally, he was asked to speak about the team’s UEFA Champions League win last year, to which he said,
“I was confident it could happen. You have to be confident until the last moment. When we scored, I was convinced we would win, on a psychological level it was very important.”
