Real Madrid may have postponed the inevitable with their 2-1 win over Mallorca, but Barcelona remain firmly on track to lift the La Liga title.
Amid this, Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has still insisted that the race is not over yet, but the reality is that Barcelona are just a breath away from reclaiming the Spanish crown and they do not even need to win to do it.
All that stands between Barça and the trophy is avoiding defeat against Espanyol. After a season of relentless consistency, tactical discipline under Hansi Flick, and crucial wins, including the decisive victory over Real Madrid last Sunday, Barcelona have earned the right to control their own destiny.
Ancelotti, ever the competitor, remarked after the Mallorca match: “We want to do our thing, we want to win the next one and see what happens.
“Today’s duty was not to give away the League. They play tomorrow. In football, anything can happen. If they win, we congratulate them. And if not, we continue in the fight,” he said as reported by SPORT.

But deep down, even the Italian manager knows that his side is clinging to little more than mathematical hope. Madrid need six points from their last two games, while also relying on Barcelona to completely collapse and pick up just one point from a possible nine.
In other words, it is a fantasy scenario, one that Barça are too professional, too focused, and too well-managed to allow.
Barça’s comeback win in El Clasico was the turning point. Not only did it knock the wind out of Madrid’s sails, but it also injected Flick’s squad with the belief that this title was theirs to lose.
Since then, the Catalans have kept their composure and are simply grinding out the remaining steps. For all of Real Madrid’s efforts, the title looks destined to return to Barcelona.
Flick’s team is now just one match away from crowning a dominant season with silverware, and barring a last-minute disaster, they will rightfully be the champions of Spain once again.
