Tensions are high in the Spanish capital after Real Madrid’s defeat to Barcelona in the final of the Super Cup, and the natural response to the same is talk of new signings.
Concurrently, however, internal tensions are brewing with fingers being pointed at the management, administration and players mutually.
The only means to calm the fire, needless to say, was a high-profile meeting between the stakeholders of the project and COPE reveal that such an interaction has already occurred.
As relayed by the Spanish outlet, Carlo Ancelotti met with Real Madrid’s CEO Jose Angel Sanchez earlier today to provide an update and discuss critical aspects.
Needless to say, the primary objective was to analyse the situation of the team after the defeat to Barcelona, the morale in the dressing room and the plan going forward.

Concurrently, it is likely that the two stakeholders conversed over the team’s requirement for new signings in the short and long term to provide adequate squad depth going forward.
As it stands, the administration appears to be against the possibility of signing a new centre-back or right-back in January and prefers to wait until June to sign Trent Alexander-Arnold on a free transfer.
That would mean the manager will be left to rely on Lucas Vazquez, Raul Asencio and Federico Valverde as his only three options at right-back.
The situation at centre-back is relatively better considering that David Alaba is all set to return, and the manager will hope the Austrian returns to complete match-fitness at the earliest.
As for Ancelotti’s own situation, reports suggest that there are no plans for Real Madrid to make an immediate managerial change but the confidence in the Italian seems to have taken a hit after the Barcelona defeat.
