Carlo Ancelotti has made history by becoming the first coach to reach six Champions League finals, taking Real Madrid to the decisive clash with Borussia Dortmund.

The 64-year-old Italian tactician already wrote himself into the history books by becoming the first, and only, coach to reach five different Champions League finals in the past, doing so in 2003, 2005 and 2007 with Milan before doing so in 2014 and 2022 with Los Blancos.

Ancelotti has already brought glory to Real Madrid this season, winning his second La Liga title in comfortable fashion, and now he has the chance to add yet another gold medal to his collection against Borussia Dortmund in the final.

Ancelotti history

Ancelotti’s Real Madrid were held to a 2-2 draw by Bayern Munich in the first leg, leaving everything on the line in the second leg at the Santiago Bernabéu. They fell 1-0 down in the 68th minute after an impressive strike from Alphonso Davies, but the deficit didn’t last too long.

In the 88th minute, Joselu managed to scrape an equaliser for Los Blancos, and he was the hero again in the 91st minute, nicking a late winner to put Ancelotti’s side in the final.
