ADVERTISING: Liverpool might be missing three key players due to the Africa Cup of Nations, but they still retain their attacking edge as Jürgen Klopp’s men welcome Brentford to Anfield on Sunday.

Losing a player like Mohamed Salah for a month is enough to make some teams fear upcoming fixtures, but the Reds can count on the Premier League’s second top goal scorer to plug the gap left by the first.

Diogo Jota has a return of 10 goals from 19 league matches and the Portuguese forward has scored at crucial times to keep Liverpool within striking distance of the Premier League summit.

Impressive performances against Arsenal, Southampton and Everton saw the 25-year-old net in three consecutive appearances, helping Liverpool to amass 12 goals over the trio of games – left foot, right foot or head, Jota finds the target with all.

Another player missing for the next month through international duty is Sadio Mané, so the Reds will now look to Takumi Minamino to attack down the left hand side of the pitch.

The Japanese player has seen his game time limited at Anfield since his arrival in the January of 2020, but the 26-year-old looks to have found his feet this season.

He came off the bench in Liverpool’s 4-0 rout of Arsenal in November, scoring with his first touch, and his displays in the EFL Cup have seen him score in every round so far.

His last gasp equaliser allowed Liverpool to beat Leicester on penalties after the Reds trailed 3-1 at one stage.

Brentford played out a thrilling 3-3 draw with Liverpool when the sides last met in September, but the Bees have found winter a little more challenging, picking up just one win in their last four matches – suffering three defeats along the way.

The Reds will look to pick up their 13th league win of the season this weekend, hoping it’s not an unlucky number to find.
