“An unnecessary defeat”

Markus Krösche, Oliver Glasner and Djibril Sow reflect on the defeat in Berlin and bemoan the Eagles’ failure to convert their goalscoring opportunities.

Board member for sport Markus Krösche: “We did well in the first half and should have scored, but we lacked composure in front of goal. It was an unnecessary defeat on the whole. It’s a missed opportunity for us.”

Head coach Oliver Glasner: “Apart from our finishing, everything went right for us in the first half. Union punished our mistakes and won the game without creating a clear-cut opening themselves. We perhaps should have held them to a goalless draw today. We keep losing games in the same manner.”

Djibril Sow: “A few weeks ago we would have scored two or three goals in the first half. We’re lacking coolness and composure at the moment. We need to score goals, then we’ll get our self-confidence back. We need a huge number of chances at the moment to score a goal. We were too frantic and couldn’t find a way back into the game. The defeat is incredibly frustrating.”
