As usual, no transfer fee made public.

However, there had been widespread reporting that Sheffield United will receive a £10m transfer fee, plus another £5m of potential future add-ons if the 21 year old hits certain milestones.

Ahead of the deal getting announced, Blades boss Chris Wilder admitted that it was all but impossible to keep an ambitious young player such as Will Osula, when a club such as Newcastle United came in for him:

“We are a club in a position that has to be careful that we don’t stifle opportunities for young players [such as Will Osua] to go to Premier League clubs and if there is interest, we make sure we get the best possible price.

“It’s quite difficult to hold onto players now when Premier League clubs come knocking… unfortunately, that attraction of the Premier League and the club is too difficult to turn down.”

Will Osula turned 21 on Sunday and great to see Newcastle United continuing to invest in young talent that has major potential to progress, with Will Osula set to be a first-team squad player this coming season, his rate of progress determining how much time on the pitch he will get in this 2024/25 Premier League season.

A parting message from Sheffield United as well on Thursday morning:

Newcastle United official announcement – 8 August 2024:

Newcastle United have completed the signing of striker William Osula from Sheffield United for an undisclosed fee.

The 21-year-old made 21 Premier League appearances last season and has also represented Denmark Under-21s on five occasions, including this summer when he scored a brace against Norway.

Born in Copenhagen, Osula started his youth career in the Danish capital before moving to South Yorkshire and joining Sheffield United’s academy in 2018. He signed his first professional contract with the club in 2021 and enjoyed a loan spell with Derby County during the 2022-23 season.

Capable of playing as a striker or from the flanks, Osula now arrives in the North East and adds further options to Eddie Howe’s squad ahead of the upcoming season.

William Osula said: “I’m very happy to be here. It’s a big club, a great club, so I’m very happy for the opportunity to join Newcastle United.

“It’s a great opportunity, and as soon as I heard about Newcastle’s interest, I knew I had to take the chance to join this club if it came.

“It has come, and I’m really happy to be here.”

Eddie Howe added: “William is a talented young forward with all the attributes to be an exciting player for Newcastle United.

“We have watched his development closely and we are delighted to have the opportunity to work with him in this next step in his career.
