Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has on Tuesday sent a message of well wishes the way of Borussia Dortmund star Nico Schlotterbeck.
This of course comes ahead of the upcoming meeting between the two clubs.
Barcelona and Dortmund are primed to lock horns on Wednesday night, in a Champions League quarter-final first-leg clash.
The latter, this past weekend, saw their hopes of securing a positive result in Catalunya’s capital dealt something of a blow.
This came by way of confirmation that key defender Nico Schlotterbeck had been ruled out for the remainder of the season, owing to a serious knee injury.
As per a statement on the part of Dortmund themselves:
‘Tough news to close out the season: Nico Schlotterbeck has sustained a meniscus tear in his left knee and will be sidelined for the remainder of the campaign.’
Speaking to the media in his pre-match press conference on Tuesday, the subject of Schlotterbeck’s impending absence was in turn put to Hansi Flick.
And Barcelona’s headmaster provided a typically classy response, in explaining:
“I always prefer it when we play against the best team. I know Nico very well. He’s an excellent central defender. I feel very sorry for him. I wish him all the best from Barcelona.”
