Edinson Cavani hints at making his Manchester United debut against Chelsea

Speaking to EN24 News (h/t Daily Star), Manchester United star Edinson Cavani has hinted that he could make his debut for the club this weekend.

Having signed on deadline day earlier this month, the Uruguayan is yet to feature for the Red Devils.

The 33-year-old was forced to undergo quarantine after arriving in the UK. This saw him ruled out of last weekend Premie League clash against Newcastle United.

Cavani was also missing as United travelled to Paris to put his former side PSG to the sword.

With the Red Devils set to face off against Chelsea next, Cavani could make his debut in the high-profile fixture. Doing so could see him line up against former teammate Thiago Silva.

The duo were instrumental as PSG dominated French football for the better part of last decade. Having left them on a free transfer earlier this summer, the duo are now set to cross paths as opponents.

Cavani is keen to line up against his former teammate at the club level for the first time in nearly a decade.

“It will be great to be able to find him on the pitch.”

The duo last met during the 2011/12 season when Cavani was at Napoli and Silva at AC Milan. The United star scored a hat-trick in their first meeting that season as Napoli put the Rossenori to the sword.

Silva got the upper hand in the reverse fixture as the match ended scoreless, with Cavani denied his goals.

Cavani, however, has a high opinion of Silva. Having played together at PSG, it is natural that he would understand what made the Brazilian one of the best in the business.

“He is a very good central defender and an excellent footballer.”

The match will also see Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Frank Lampard once again go head to head.

The Blues boss got the better of the Norwegian for the first time in our last meeting. Hopefully, normal service will resume and Solskjaer will come out on top again.
