An entire generation, including one or two of your friends at Ibrox Noise, have either never heard the Champions League theme at Ibrox, or were a touch too young to grasp it.

Others among us vividly remember those days, fondly recalling the CL ball flag logo flapping in the centre circle as the players lined up during the iconic theme.

That is going to happen for the first time in 12 years tonight, and while some of us on Ibrox Noise aren’t completely in favour of it being in the playoff round, nevertheless, an entire generation of supporters will finally get to hear what the elder states men and women did all those years ago.

As we say, it would, and will, mean an awful lot more to be played in the group stage – we know truly that we’ve made it then.

This is why we were cautious about one gentleman saying that the journey was over when he heard the theme music at Ibrox once again.

Because we’re going to hear it tonight, before we really feel we should.

But, at least a whole group of Rangers fans will get to experience it for effectively the first time – some, entirely for the first time, some as young adults, some even as slightly older adults.

And given the Journey we’ve been through, they do deserve that privilege.

We obviously pray our side and manager find a way to overcome PSV and make it to the group, but all in good time.

For now, we certainly know the CL pomp and ceremony return to Ibrox for the first time in well over a decade.

Been far too long.
