One of the most significant question marks surrounding Pep Guardiola’s team selection for Manchester City’s opening Premier League fixture of the season against Wolves is who would start in goal. If that transpires, it will be a special moment for Trafford.

James Trafford is expected to start in goal for Manchester City at Molineux.

Manchester City’s goalkeeping situation appears to be taking shape.

It would seemingly only be a matter of time before Ederson leaves City. Galatasaray are pushing hard to sign the Brazilian international. If and when that move comes together, it would not be a surprise to see City accelerate a move for Gianluigi Donnarumma. But all of that can wait. A special moment for James Trafford seems set to take place at Molineux.

After leaving Manchester City two summers ago, James Trafford has returned to the club with the aim of one day becoming City’s number-one goalkeeper. To get to that point, Trafford will have to take the first steps as a City first-team player. That step looks set to be taken today.

It appears that James Trafford will make his first start in goal for Pep Guardiola’s side today. If that occurs, it will be a great moment for the young goalkeeper. But at the same time, it seems that a storied City career is edging closer to ending. Ederson’s move to Galatasaray seems to be taking shape. All in all, Manchester City’s goalkeeping situation could be taking shape starting today at Molineux.
