Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim revealed how he intends to negotiate Sunday’s meeting against Brentford, while explaining the importance of Amad Diallo’s return.

The Red Devils had an evening to remember at San Mames, beating Athletic Bilbao by three unanswered goals in the first leg of the Europa League semi-final.

The Premier League giants now have on foot in the final, but they must maintain their composure to deny a Spanish uprising in next week’s second leg.

But before hosting the Basque side at Old Trafford, the Reds will take on Brentford away from home in the 35th round of the Premier League.

Man United team will be rotated vs Brentford

At this stage, MUFC have very little to play for in the EPL, as they currently reside in a miserable 14th place.

Therefore, Amorim admitted his main concern is to avoid additional injuries, so he’ll be looking to rest any player who might be in danger of picking up a knock due to fatigue.

“The first thing is that the players who are at risk of getting injured will not play. Then we are going to assess on Friday and the next day who the best players to start the game,” said the 40-year-old in his pre-match press conference via Sky Sports.

“Then we have to be careful because we are Manchester United and we cannot go to a game without thinking we can win this game.

“The process is going to be like that. It’s going to be tough but we passed so many things this year, it’s one more.”

Amorim weighs in on ‘massive’ Amad Diallo boost

Amorim also revealed that Amad might take part in the contest after making his long-anticipated return from injury as a second-half substitute on Thursday.

The manager also admitted it was tough for him and his team to cope without Ivorian, who was their most influential player upfront prior to the ankle injury he suffered in February.

“It was really tough on us [when he got injured] because in that moment he was the player who created all the situations. Losing a player like that for a lot of games was really hard on us and especially for Amad.

“Now he’s returning, you can feel he’s not so explosive at the moment, but he’s a player with a left foot and goes one-on-one and we don’t have many players that do that. It’s massive for us. He’s one more option to play.”

This season, Diallo scored nine goals for United across all competitions, while providing his teammates with seven assists.
