Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim faces a series of selection dilemmas ahead of today’s crucial Premier League showdown with Tottenham Hotspur.
Kobbie Mainoo, Manuel Ugarte, and Toby Collyer are all said to be sidelined with fitness issues.
Casemiro could return to the starting XI.
The former Real Madrid star is in the twilight of his career, leading to big question marks on his ability to perform the role against an energetic Tottenham midfield.
The biggest blow for United came as Amad Diallo’s injury update.
The 22-year-old sustained an ankle ligament injury and could miss the remainder of the 2024/25 campaign.
His absence will leave a significant void, as Diallo had been a key asset in both the right-wing and right wing-back roles.
United secured Patrick Dorgu from Lecce last month for a £29.4 million fee.
Journalist Henry Winter described him as a ‘statement signing‘.
He made his debut in United’s 2-1 victory over Leicester City in the fourth round of the FA Cup.
Though many expected him to take up the left wing-back role, Amorim threw a curveball by deploying him as a right wing-back instead.
Given the extraordinary injury crisis at Old Trafford, it’s likely that Amorim will turn to Diogo Dalot and Noussair Mazraoui to fill the wing-back positions.
Dorgu could be unleashed further forward as a right-winger, tasked with supporting Alejandro Garnacho and a striker in the attack.
The 20-year-old has already featured 10 times as a right-winger.
He has scored three goals for Lecce, with each of them coming when he was deployed in that role.
The last 48 hours have been particularly challenging for Amorim but he could still surprise Spurs by playing Dorgu further forward.
