América have confirmed that Roger Martínez faces up to two months on the sidelines after he sustained a quad injury in the first weekend of the 2022 Apertura.
The 28-year-old attacker pulled up in the 40th minute of the 0-0 draw with Atlas at the Estadio Azteca on Saturday.
Having been assessed by the Azulcrema’s medical department, the club released a statement on the matter.
“Club América reports that Roger Martínez has suffered an injury to the proximal tendon of the left rectus femoris,” the statement read.
“The recovery time is 6 to 8 weeks depending on its evolution.”
While far from ideal, the fact that the Colombia international does not require surgery means that his season is not over.
The injury will keep him out of high-profile friendlies in the USA against Real Madrid, Manchester City and Chelsea.
However he could return in time for the Matchday 12 clash Tigres on 3 September.
