NicolĂĄs Castillo has used social media to share some experiences of his continuing recovery from illness.

The América striker will miss a year of football after he suffered a thrombosis in his right leg.

However, one of the videos on the Chile international’s Instagram account shows him walking with the aid of crutches in the presence of medical professionals.

He also posted a video with musical backing that featured images of his son by Castillo’s side in his hospital bed.

AmĂ©rica took their semi-annual squad photo in recent days and had Castillo’s son in front, a move for which the 27-year-old expressed deep gratitude.

He posted the squad photo along with a message that read: “Thanks for this huge gesture @clubamerica, they told me that they represented me very well đŸ€ŁđŸ’ȘđŸ» I really wanted to be there and share a moment with my teammates and all the people of the club. I miss you and see you soon đŸ™‹đŸ»â€â™‚ïž THANK YOU”

Castillo will no doubt be watching along with much of the rest of Mexico as América take on Cruz Azul behind closed doors at the Estadio Azteca on Sunday night.

It will be the last game played before an indefinite suspension of all Liga MX games begins in response to the coronavirus pandemic.
