Nicolás Benedetti has taken to social media to update América fans on his condition following knee surgery in midweek.

The midfielder damaged the meniscus in his right knee during last Monday’s defeat at León.

It was a cruel blow for the 23-year-old, who had just returned to action from a lengthy spell on the sidelines after suffering a serious knee injury while on Olympic qualifying duty with Colombia in February.

Benedetti’s latest operation was deemed a success, with Las Águilas expecting him back within a four to six-week timeframe.

The player posted a photo of himself on a treatment table, with the message: “Starting recovery from home, more motivated than ever.”
