When Fernando Ortiz took over the interim role at Club América, he did so without the smallest bit of prestige.
Now, the 44-year-old is unanimously loved by all Eagles supporters after a sensational run of form had his side ride from last place to fourth place and a spot in the Liguilla.
According to TUDN’s Gibaran Araige, Ortiz is set to be rewarded for his efforts. Araige claims that Ortiz has earned the role of permanent manager and will lead the club next season.
In addition, the decision will not be announced publicly until after América completes their season.
In the eight games that Ortiz has been in charge, the Eagles have been spectacular defensively, allowing just the one goal to Joaquín Montecinos in their visit to Tijuana.
Regardless how América finish in the Liguilla, few would say that the Argentine hasn’t earned a fresh, new contract with a new title.
