Last week, it was reported that there was strong interest from the América hierarchy to sign talented midfielder Arturo Vidal, who won the Serie A title with Inter Milan this season.
Vidal has spoken highly about América in recent years and with just one season left on his Inter deal, there has been much speculation over his future.
However, América chairman Santiago Baños has now set the record straight and ruled out a Vidal signing completely.
“Inter may not want anything, but it would still be too expensive for us,” Baños told TuttoSport.
“Vidal will not play for América next season.”
It’s rumoured that Vidal is currently making €7-8m annually, which would be more than double what Memo Ochoa pulls in at the club.
