América set to announce Guido Rodríguez extension in the coming days

After starring in the 2019 Clausura and being called up to the Argentine national team for Copa America, it appeared Guido Rodríguez was very likely to leave América this summer.

Rodríguez had been rumoured with a European switch but, according to Record, the 25-year-old is set to extend his América stay.

The Mexican outlet reports that Rodríguez has ‘gladly accepted’ a contract renewal that will keep him at the club until June 2023 which includes a significant pay raise.

An official announcement is expected in the coming days.

The former River Plate man arrived just two years ago from Xolos in a $7m deal and has been named Liga MX Player of the Year both seasons.
