Ecuadorian winger Renato Ibarra has been one of Miguel Herrera’s most reliable players since joining América from Vitesse in 2016.
With his contract set to expire this summer and no progress made on an extension, many América supporters have begun to worry about whether or not he will be with the team past the 2019 Clausura.
However, according to Record, América do not intend to release the player and, while Ibarra is away with Ecuador for a pair of friendlies against the United States and Honduras, director Santiago Baños will begin trying to convince Ibarra to stay.
Ibarra’s agent has confessed that so far, his client has not received a proposal to extend his contract.
Ibarra has played just over 100 games for the Eagles, scoring nine times and providing 27 assists.
