Almost three weeks have passed since Club América was upset in the quarter-finals and, so far, the only official announcement has been the termination of Nicolás Castillo’s contract.
However, one of the most important pending cases is the future of Renato Ibarra, who was limited to just 17 minutes last season due to injury.
Despite having scored a goal and being well received by the Azulcrema fans, his future at the institution in doubt due to the injury layoff and his previous controversy with the club.
According to journalist Víctor Diaz, the América board have a firm stance on getting rid of Ibarra before the beginning of next season.
With Ibarra occupying an international slot, his departure would allow Solari the chance to pick another player of his choosing, which proved to be a massive success in the case of Álvaro Fidalgo.
Diaz has also claimed that if no negotiation is achieved, there is a possibility that Solari will include Ibarra in next season’s squad.
