América are reportedly close to securing the signing of Ecuador international Joao Rojas.
Azulcrema manager Santiago Solari is keen to bring in a new right winger ahead of the 2022 Clausura, and the 24-year-old Emelec man seems to fit the bill.
Mexican reporter Josh Mendoza claims that the deal for Rojas is all but done.
“America has closed the signing of the Ecuadorian, a 24-year-old winger from Emelec,” Mendoza tweeted.
“The purchase would be around $3m and, it seems, that Emelec kept some percentage of the letter.
“I confirm it after corroborating with two contacts, I hope it will become official soon.”
Rojas helped Emelec reach the final of the 2021 Ecuadorian LigaPro where they were beaten 4-2 on aggregate by Independiente del Valle.
América will hope to get the paperwork completed in time for the winger to begin pre-season training with the rest of the squad on Monday.
