After failing in their bid to sign Uruguay international Brian Ocampo, América have turned their sights on Pablo Solari.
The Azulcrema are still in the market for another attacker as they look to build towards a successful 2022 Clausura campaign.
According to TUDN, Las Águilas have moved on quickly from losing out on free agent Ocampo, and are serious about enticing Solari from Colo Colo.
They will have their work cut out, however, as the Chilean side bought 80% of Solari’s economic rights last month after an impressive spell on loan from Talleres.
The Argentine, who is predominantly right-sided but can operate on either flank, signed a four-year deal at the time that is not due to expire until December 2025.
Solari wrote himself into club history when he scored the only goal in a relegation play-off against the University of Concepción last February that prevented Los Albos from suffering their first-ever relegation.
América, meanwhile, kicked off their Clausura campaign with a 1-1 draw at Puebla on Friday.
Salvador Reyes opened the scoring in the opening minute, but Los Camoteros equalised through Maximiliano Araújo on the stroke of half time after both striker Roger Martínez and manager Santiago Solari had been sent off.
