Richard SĂĄnchez produced a moment of first-half magic to help AmĂŠrica win their ClĂĄsico Capitalino against Pumas on Sunday.
Scorers: R SĂĄnchez 36â˛, LaĂnez 90 + 8â˛
The Paraguay international stole possession by high pressing before arrowing a magnificent chip from the right sideline over the stranded Alfredo Talavera.
Pumas came agonisingly close to equalising through a brilliant chip of their own just after the hour mark.
Goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa could only watch as RogĂŠrioâs effort sailed over his head and cannoned back off the upright.
Substitute Henry MartĂn looked to have doubled the Azulcremaâs advantage with just under 10 minutes to go, but the tap-in was chalked off by VAR for an offside offence in the build up.
Mauro LaĂnez did put the cherry on top by finishing from a narrow angle in the eighth minute of stoppage time.
The win â AmĂŠricaâs first in four league games â sees Las Ăguilas move three points clear of Atlas at the top of the Apertura table.
