22-year-old home grown player joins Portuguese giants

After spending six months on loan to Olympique Marseille, Amar Dedic has left FC Red Bull Salzburg to join top Portuguese side SL Benfica, for whom he has signed a long-term contract.

Taking the Salzburg Way to Portugal

The 22-year-old right-back with 20 appearances for Bosnia has been in Salzburg since the age of 13. He played through all the age groups at the Red Bull football academy.

He then made 50 appearances for our co-operation club FC Liefering (with two goals and five assists) before a loan to WAC in 2021/22 led to him returning to our Red Bulls.

Over a total of 95 matches for us, Amar Dedic scored eight goals, provided 15 assists and celebrated a league title and cup win.

After his spell at Olympique Marseille, it was clear to everyone that Amar would not return to Salzburg and would look for a new challenge. His move to Benfica is a great step, which we are also pleased about as a club. Another of our players has taken the Salzburg Way to a top European league. We wish Amar all the very best for a healthy and successful future!
