Scorers: Amad 39′, Hugill 70′

Erik ten Hag named new signing Leny Yoro in the side, as well as a surprise inclusion on the left wing for Jadon Sancho, after the formerly at-odds pair had publicly made their peace during the week.

Kick off was delayed 15 minutes to allow fans to safely enter the stadium at Murrayfield, after reports of large queues.

Yoro got off to a confident start, showing his quality on the ball and putting in a superb tackle in the opening minutes.

Ex-Rangers loanee Amad was causing trouble for his former side, and went closest to scoring after 24 minutes, curling a free-kick towards the top-right corner that just missed the target.

And it was the 22-year-old who opened the scoring for Ten Hag’s side, cutting in from the right into the penalty area and curling a left-footed shot beyond a helpless Jack Butland.

Ten Hag swapped all ten outfield players at half-time, which meant Rangers were able to get on the ball more in the second half.

The Scottish side went close through a shot from distance from Scott Wright, but shortly afterwards Man Utd extended their lead as Joe Hugill finished superbly with a shot that crashed into the roof of the net.

As Rangers also made mass changes, the second half became a stale affair, that was until André Onana made an excellent save with two minutes of normal time remaining to deny Danilo.

United are next in action on Sunday July 28th, when they face Arsenal at the SoFi Stadium in California.
