Morata, who has been much criticised in the past, scored the first two in the Riazor outing, with Pablo Sarabia also scoring a brace and Yeremy Pino scoring his first senior goal for La Roja.

The on loan Juventus star is trying to secure a starting spot in Luis Enrique’s plans ahead of the World Cup in Qatar this winter.

But even after his two goals, he cut a humble figure, pointing to the importance of the team, rather than highlighting his own performance and goals.

“Very happy, over all, to see how the people are with us,” he said after the game, as cited by Diario AS.

“It has been incredible and it motivates us a lot to continue working to try to dream.

“We have many young players who allow you to dream for the future.

“We have had a very good week to teach and to work on many things that you cannot do in a competition.

“It doesn’t matter who scores the goals. What’s important is to win and I am very happy for everyone’s goals.”

Having already bagged qualification for the World Cup in advance, Spain are continuing their preparation for the winter event.

Consecutive friendly wins are another important step, and Luis Enrique’s men will want to continue their fine form throughout this year as they ramp up preparations.

As for Morata, this is a big boost as he looks to nail down a starting XI spot over the coming months.
