After failing to impress enough to stay at Real Madrid, Álvaro Fidalgo spent a season at LaLiga 2 outfit CD Castellón before coming over to Club América at the request of former manager Santiago Solari.
At the time, nobody thought much of the move for the virtual unknown other than the intrigue of a former Madridista in Mexico City.
Fast forward to today and Fidalgo is undoubtedly one of Liga MX’s biggest stars. The level of his performances now has some fans pleading with him to one day play for Mexico.
However, Fidalgo has other ideas and still hopes to one day put on the Spain shirt after representing the country with the U-16s and U-17s.
“If I’m honest from my heart, my dream is to play with Spain because, in the end, I think representing your country and the country that you feel for, the country of which you are… I think it is something unmatched,” he said in an interview with TUDN.
Fidalgo is still only 25 years old and is under contract with the Eagles until summer 2025.
